Mineral Springs eighth- and ninth-graders in 1960 were excited when they learned they'd be seeing 7 states on their annual field trip. The trip didn't turn out to be what they had in mind, but it was a day away from school--so who's complaining?
Aboard the bus home, Mr. Washington demonstrates for Sharon Owens (left) and Sharon Sorenson the study technique he perfected while a student at Auburn. In the seat behind is Marion Ward, and behind her are Jackie Cornelius and Jack Fields.
